I'm working on a SWN setting with Lovecraftian magic, so I'm using a lot of stuff from Silent Legions, but I have hit a road block. How would you go about using Sorcery Assets from Silent Legions in Stars Without Number? Can't think of a very good solution and would love some advice

If you're using SWN faction turn framework then I'd keep sorcery assets out. But you could use Silent Legion faction turn and port SWN with ease.

SIlent Legion power generation and upkeep connected to control of an asset is good flavor but pretty particular to silent legion. I could see problems with porting it.

+Aaron Berger How would you port SWN factions to Silent Legions?

What's the potential issue you're having problems with?

The SWN and SL faction systems are, in large part, the exact same system, with SL just being a "revised edition" and rescaled to deal with smaller areas and groups. Decide how you want to deal with the scale differences (personally, I'd go for "treat the SL assets as larger groups, making them equivalent to SWN assets" and leave all the numbers as-is on both sides) and you're good to go.

About the only potential change you might need to make is giving factions four core attributes instead of three (Force = Muscle, Wealth = Influence, Cunning, and Sorcery), but you could also choose to keep it to three by treating Cunning and Sorcery as equivalent, since both are based in using and manipulating obscure information.

+Dave Sherohman The main issue I'm having is basically regarding if I should add a fourth asset or treat Sorcery as Cunning. Muscle and Influence have a lot of asset overlaps with Force and Wealth, but Cunning and Sorcery have radically different assets

if there is only 1 lovecraft faction it probably wouldn't be worth switching to SL. I would stick with 3 catagories of assets and split the sorcery among the the other 3 catagories

+Aaron Berger That's what I was thinking. The main villainous faction is basically a sorcerous cabal of sorcerer tyrants who control most of the sector, and very few other people have access to sorcery
