Quick opinion/ruling:

Does the Starfarer focus apply to intra-system travel, as well as Interstellar drills?

My initial reaction was "no", but this does seem a bit too petty and narrow an interpretation.

However, if it does apply to travel between regions or within a region, then the pilot will automatically succeed at Trimming the Course in those instances. With level 2 of the focus, this means an effective +2 bonus to spike drive ratings for all intra-system travel. Which is nice, but quite something.

It's intended, yes. If you sink that much of your concept into "I make the ship go fast.", it's going to go very fast. It's pretty useless in any situation where you are not traveling, which is going to take up about 5 minutes of table time in most sessions, if that.

+Kevin Crawford Awesome. That will be a major selling-point for Starfarer among the skeptical. For a ship's crew, it's a major advantage to automatically go faster intra-system.

New campaigns starting this week and next. Privateering and exploration. Starfarer and Star Captain should be well-loved.
