Lomite Stifler powers are super unclear. Lawful Pyre-Born shows ‘the intrinsic abilities of a Lomite Stifler’, but the Cold Breath ability, while problematic for level 1-2 Godbound, is mostly just inconvenient for higher levels. Does the power stack for Stiflers, unlike Uncreated, or are they just less potent equivalents to Uncreated with overall smaller numbers? I’d welcome any input, especially from +Kevin Crawford . I’m loving this game but I’m struggling with some lack of definite information about some things.
I though I kept on Kevin Crawford's work, but I must have missed one. Where are Lomite stiflers detailed?
+Timothy Whitworth it’s mentioned in part in the Atheocracy of Lom information (the Pyre, an artifact that grants the antipriests magic-suppressing abilities), but it doesn’t specify how those powers work. However, on page 216 of Godbound Deluxe book, it mentions that Lawful Pyre-Born shows ‘the intrinsic abilities of a Lomite Stifler’, rating it as the equivalent of an Uncreated Cold Breath ability of 2. However, the Uncreated can appear in thousands, whereas antipriests can’t bring such numbers to bear so easily, hence my query.
I would use the first option from Impairing Powers on page 169, and if the additional damage from the strong impairment isn't enough to give pause, maybe bump the effort which they need to commit?
+Joshua Denby I could treat it like a mortal talent for them and advance it based on their HD....that’s a useful possibility, so long as it’s clear its an antipriest-only Talent
Since Stiflers do actually start with an equivalent to Cold Breath 2, I'll just make it a mortal talent (Pyre Attunement) that can be purchased to increase the rating by 1 per Pyre Attunement acquired. Use the leveling/HD thing for mortals to determine their advancement and make it a thing :)
Lawful Pyre-Born is also an exceptional individual. He probably is way more powerful than most Stiflers. Cold Breath 1 should suffice for most.
I think he’s more powerful in terms of having access to a Word and a full Strife, but the phrasing does suggest that having 2 points of suppression is the standard
+Lance Johnson No it doesn't. It states that the powers are belonging to a Lomite Stifler in sentence 1, sentence 2 states that 'like an Uncreated,' he can use the Cold Breath ability, then it goes on to say to what degree. Uncreated's ability in Cold Breath varies depending on the strength of the Uncreated.
While I can see your point, I think ill be sticking with my original interpretation. It’s an ability produced by an artifact that is designed exclusively to disable Godbound and humankind’s ability to use magic, so to me it makes more sense to be more potent but less flexible in results.
