In reference to a previous post I made on the subject. I think Fleet Cruisers should have about 15 hardpoints instead of 10 and Battleships should have about 50 hardpoints. The mass and power capacities need to be increased but I'm not sure by how much.

I would just create a variety of different "hulls" and vary them by the different power and mass stats. You could create a few ships and test them out against the standard version. Maybe start out by increasing them in increments of 5.

Maybe a turret rating? Cruisers can mount fighter class turrets, battleships can mount frigate class turrets?

Just out of curiosity, what is the intended point of the redesign? Capital ships don't usually end up in the grubby mitts of player characters (although there was that one time off Wexx Prime with that antiquated dreadnaught...) and even a lowly cruiser massively outguns a garden variety Free Trader.

Do you mean to use this as a tie-in with a wargaming campaign or the like? Which would be kind of awesome. (grin)

+Henry de Veuve I have been readinɡ far too many "Lensmen" books for my own ɡood. It has been indelibly inɡrained that capital ships should bristle with overkill.

+Rebecca Ashling Fair enough :-) EE "Doc" Smith space battles do have a certain classic style, in a "needz moar DAKKA" kind of way. (Says the guy whose personal Srar Destroyer would have dazzle stripes painted on it.)
