What are some of your favorite OSR bestiaries with good wandering monster by terrain tables?

FYI- I had to throw standard wilderness encounters out the window since one of my PCs started with the Beast word."Aww, what a cute pack of dire doggies" is all the mileage you can get out of those.

+Michael Blank that’s exactly what I’m going for!

There looks to be a lot of overland travel in this upcoming campaign and I want to populate it with opportunities for the protags to use their gifts.

+Marshall Brengle Beasts is just the inherent ability for having the word. I would write tables based on the PCs. Unless you all find it entertaining to describe a rockfall that the PC with Might can clear in 2 minutes, including things that are speed bumps isn't worth while. As they level up, even average bandits aren't worth going into if you have PCs with Bow or Sword. And if any PC picks up Journeying, they may only encounter what they want.

+Michael Blank I'd actually disagree with that. Including such 'speed bumps' provides a reminder of just how beyond a normal PCs capabilities the pantheon is. Heck, you take that rockslide and add an angry farmer trying to get his crops to market and that godbound of Might gets a chance to do a good deed and possibly earn a worshiper!

+Justin Gordon agreed, but don't bother with those things being random encounters. Feel out how the session is going and throw them in if you want. Why randomize something that is of no risk?

+Michael Blank ah, I see what you mean. Good point!
