Question about character advancement. I understand that a PC needs to earn both XP and spend Dominion in order to advance in level. What about situations where a character has enough XP to advance, but hasn't spent Dominion for some reason. Time might be a factor for instance. On pg. 128 it says Dominion expenditures "aren't fast enough to be useful when time is an issue". The book's example suggest Dominion sinks should take between a few weeks and a month to enact. I haven't run into this issue yet (newby GB GM), but I'm wondering if it might be around the corner. The crisis my players are dealing with is happening quickly, and they don't have days or weeks to spare. I imagine this isn't terribly uncommon either. Has anyone else run into the issue of having an accumulation of XP and Dominion points, and no time to invest them into levels? Do you wait until the adventure is over, or for significant downtime? What if there is enough XP banked to earn more than 1 level at a time? Thanks for any help!

If they commit the Dominion to the project, I'd count it even if the project isn't complete yet.

Thanks Kevin. We're playing it this way for now. The players are spending the points and "planting the seeds", so to speak, of their Dominion based projects, with commitments to return to to them during downtime. So far so good.

That's also how we do it: you may not get the project's effects for a bit, but you can spend immediately and gain levels accordingly.
