I'm new to both Godbound and SWN. I've really enjoyed watching +Adam Koebel and his Far Verona videos. I'd love to start using factions for my Dark Sun game, featuring the trade houses, city-states and other important organizations. For a fantasy setting, would you suggest converting the SWN system or trying to use Godbound's faction system instead? Any pitfalls to avoid or other suggestions?

All feedback welcomed and appreciated! Thanks!

The problem and advantage of SWN's system is that it's a lot more complex and mechanical, which means you'll have to convert a lot more but will have a more detailed system when you're done. So it's really a question of how much work you want to take on vs. what you want to get out of it.

My 2cp would be to use Godbound factions, because a lot of the Assets that come with SWN:R just won’t be applicable.

+Marshall Brengle This, more or less. You might also be interested in the domain system in An Echo, Resounding (part of the Red Tide setting).

+Adam Bloom absolutely. The faction system of SWN seems robust. This is likely both an asset and a curse. I really like the granularity of specific assets of various types, but the complexity is a bit daunting.

+Marshall Brengle I'm sure I could convert or replace a number of them fairly easily, but the question is if I really want to put the hours in to do so. I'll dig into Godbound a bit more. It's probably easier to add a bit of complexity to a faction system than to strip it away. Thanks.
