So, this is a question for
I just ran a Cepheus Engine (the OGL version of Mongoose Traveller) adventure last night. Two things popped into my mind as I was packing up:
1. Multiple rolls on the SWN Revised background tables could simulate multiple terms in various Traveller careers. Alternatively, one could just write up some "career tables" as per Traveller.
2. The new ship combat rules and the ship hulls/weapons/fittings in SWN Revised could be ported over to Traveller with very little changes. You'd just have to re-jigger AC and turn it into a base difficulty to hit the vessel on 2d6, but the rest could stand as it is.
The question: was this your secret plan all along?
+Abrasax Palante the best thing is that there is a version in doc/odt format and you can change, add and delete stuff until you have your own little version off the cepheus engine
When I write anything, I assume that at most half of my readers will actually want to use whatever system I'm using. Thus, even when I write something mechanical for SWN, I try to leave it as easy to transplant as possible. While I didn't specifically target Traveller with those two systems, I did target the idea of someone wanting to use them with a different game.
I will post my attempt at a conversion soon. But it looks very, very promising and simple.
